Santa is a municipality located in the Mezam Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. Its history is closely linked to the settlement and organization of several Grassfields communities that migrated and established themselves in the highland area over time.
The town of Santa was founded in the early 20th century and gradually developed as a traditional community under the leadership of a local chief. The traditional institution has played an important role in maintaining social order, cultural identity, and land management within the area.
With the evolution of administrative structures in Cameroon, Santa was later established as an administrative subdivision and municipal council. This marked a new phase in its development, allowing for improved local governance and the implementation of development policies aimed at meeting the needs of the population.
Over the years, Santa has grown into a dynamic municipality made up of several villages and communities. It is known for its strong cultural heritage, peaceful coexistence among its populations, and an economy largely based on agriculture and local trade. Today, Santa continues to play a significant role in the socio-economic development of the North West Region while preserving its traditional values.
